Hundreds of parents have signed an online petition in Greenville County schools in hopes of making the schools safer for their children.
In the wake of an accidental shooting at Southside High School, parents and community leaders met with members of the Greenville County School Board on Tuesday.
They want to know how guns are getting into the schools undetected and they are looking to work with the school on ideas to include permanent metal detectors in the budget.
Tessa Hubbard has a child in the Greenville County school system. And she approached local activist Traci Fant to push the online petition.
As of Wednesday night, nearly 400 people had signed.
